Unclog Your Drain Naturally

Unclog your drain naturally without using corrosive and harsh chemicals. Use baking soda, vinegar, and hot water! This weekend, we had a clogged bathroom sink drain. I used this method with great success. Here's how to do it:

Pour 1/4 C baking soda down the drain. Follow with 1 C hot vinegar (microwave for 1 min). Let sit for 30-40 minutes. Fill tea kettle with water and bring to a boil. Pour steaming hot water down drain.

And that's it! Super easy and earth friendly!

Kitchen Remodel Colors

Ah...how I love to dream about renovating our small galley kitchen. I must say that it (along with both bathrooms) is in dire need of a remodel! I mean...the countertops are about an inch away from the wall! If that doesn't scream "REMODEL ME!", I don't know what does.

I love our 1949 ranch/rambler home, and want to our kitchen to have a late 40s/early 50s retro feel. So, I have been researching and looking and window shopping. And, I have finally come up with a color palette, inspired by the photo below!

A Day at the Beach

I spent the weekend in Ocean City, MD. So relaxing. This picture sums it up. Thankfully, the tide didn't sweep me away!

Next week we will be spending time back home on the Finger Lakes in New York. A great couple of weeks, I must say!

First Dill Pickles

This weekend I made my first batch of dill pickles from the pickling cucumbers and dill from the garden! I found a really great step-by-step guide to making them at www.inthegardenonline.com. I have never canned or pickled anything before, so I needed something with photos and excellent details. Find out How to Make Dill Pickles!

I added a slice of jalapeno to one of the jars, and I can not wait to eat them!
